The Face of Someone I Know

"There are three classes of people: those who see, those who see when they are shown, those who do not see." -Leonardo da Vinci

She see's you, she looks deeply into the abyss that you know as your own insecurities. The walls you've built cannot stop her eyes from seeing, the barriers you've placed do nothing to hinder her sight. You recoil, trying to hide your secrets from her. She smiles making you feel foolish as a flash of anger crosses your face. Why does she search through you? What does she expect to find in the depths of your soul? You look away unwilling to show the enmity that suddenly has invaded your mind.

You look her in the eye as your courage begins to surge in a rally to realign. Your gaze meets; a glorious confluence of consciousness. You look into those blue pools, a reflection of your own soul is seen in hers. You realize now why she smiles, it was not judgment but understanding.  A convergence of each soul is shared in an instant.
