That Day On The Beach
You’ll always be the first person I call to waste an afternoon away. I get wrapped up in your golden skin when I taste your sweet and salty lips in this midday heat. We always dream so big sitting with all our thoughts and hopes in my tiny old car. We turn so red in the face sometimes with all the excitement and humidity trapped in the adventure. We’ve been driving slow, coasting, I think I’ve fallen in love with the ride, taking my time with you.
Today we’ve been sinking in warm sand all day, hypnotized by the ocean listening to the wind singing and whipping through our hair. It’s chilling the way the waves gently collide against my body into yours and we sway and rock with the motion. The euphoria hits and crashes with all the love at the shore.
I could never keep my two feet on the ground and just the act of you pulling the seaweed out my tangled curls sends me soaring. We count all the seagulls flying by, but baby, I think I’m the one flying feeling this natural high from the haze of laughter we are sitting in. We could be drunk off pizza or maybe its just the fireworks exploding around and inside us because I know I burst and bubble over when you call me your favorite person. I’m so thankful for the summer days filled with all this blazing passion.
