I Fell In Love In Milan

You said you’d love me better than he did and I believed, I believed.
You wore cotton long-sleeved shirts even in the summer and I was never sure if you just prepared yourself to have something to wipe away my tears when you were my shoulder to cry on.

I heard it every day - that you could treat me better - and so when the time came and I fell for you the way you did for me, maybe it was wrong for me to expect thunderstorms and shooting stars. But I did, I did.

We had it. Your lips were like lightning on my skin, marking my veins and turning them blue. Your eyes created thunderstorms within me and your passion was the shooting stars.

But slowly the storms calmed and I felt like mother Earth who was in desperate need of a natural disaster. Something to keep me alive, something to keep me whole.
